On a personal note, I have claimed bankruptcy and tried to get a loan from a local Credit Union. There was no way I was going to get approved, even if I had already been discharged by all of the creditors I had burned. There is only one way to get a loan after you have just been recently discharged through a law office from all your creditors, and that is to get a private loan. Private lenders will charge you a high APR to profit from your bankruptcy, and they will insist on the borrower having collateral or some form of security.

I really need to start trying to build up my credit rating again by taking out this loan. It’s not so much about spending all this money quickly on something. The roof won’t take that much money to fix, and the rest I’ll use for other things we need – like clothes, food, phone bills, satellite T.V. and telephone hookups. I would think that lending to bankrupt and discharged borrowers would be fairly safe, because we don’t dare let our credit rating(s) get bad again.
